How to Get Your Free YouTube API Key

To make the like goal update automatically, it needs a "key" to safely ask YouTube for your live stats. It is completely free and takes about 2 minutes to set up!

Step 1: Go to Google Cloud

Log into your Google account and go to the Google Cloud Console.

Step 2: Create a Project

At the top left, click the dropdown next to the Google Cloud logo and click "New Project". Name it something simple like "Stream Widget" and click Create.

Step 3: Enable the YouTube API

Once your project is created, type "YouTube Data API v3" into the top search bar and click it. On the next page, click the big blue Enable button.

Step 4: Create Your Key

Look at the left sidebar menu and click Credentials. Click the "+ Create Credentials" button at the top, and select API Key. A popup will appear with your new key!

Step 5: Copy and Paste

Copy the long string of letters and numbers (it usually starts with AIzaSy...) and paste it into the YouTube API Key box in the generator above.

⚠️ Important Note for OBS Users: Because this widget runs inside OBS Studio (which is a local app, not a website), do not add any restrictions to your API key in the Google Cloud settings. Leave "Application restrictions" set to None, or the widget will be blocked from fetching your likes!
